Kari Daging ala Mamak & Roti Jala

I love this dish so much. It's Suitable for breakfast and teatime. Again in english this dish may be translate as "Beef curry with lacey pancakes" it sounds awkward right? hehe. So basically it's a beef curry as a dipping sauce for lacey pancakes. OK i'll share how to make this recipe but , let's sneak the photo first!


                                                        ROTI JALA OR LACEY PANCAKES



BEEF CURRY



Part 1 (preparing lacey pancakes)
Ingredients:
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
2 cups of water
 lacey pancakes mold

*Add all the ingredients
*heat pan (non-stick) and
* use the net mold by turns it in circular motion until it form a net
* let it cook and fold it into semicircle and fold it again until it looks like triangle





Part 2 (Dipping sauce)

1/2 teaspoon of fenugreek
1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1/2 teaspoon of black mustard seeds
10 mint leaves
a shallot (slice)
5 curry leaves
3 tablespoon curry powder (add bit of water to clump it)
2 tablespoon palm oil/ghee oil
500g of sliced beef
2 potatoes
2 cups of coconut milk
Steps:
1) heat pan with oil , add shallot, fenugreek,fennel seeds,cumin,black mustard seeds, curry leaves until you smell the aroma 
2) add curry powder and stir it for 3-4 minutes
3) add coconut milk, let it cook
4) add potatoes and beef let it cook for 8 minutes
5) add mint leaves
 DONE!

Dhal dipping sauce

In Malaysia, this is the popular dipping sauce for roti canai.

Ingredients:
100 g dhal beans
a potato
1/2 teaspoon of black mustard seeds, coriander,fennel seeds and cumin (spices)
5 curry leaves
50g carrot (dice)
50 g eggplant(dice)
2 cups of water
pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon of chilies paste
2 dried chillies
1 tablespoon of palm oil

Steps:
1) boil water, add turmeric powder,salt,dhal, potato, carrot and eggplant for about 20 minutes or until it soft
2)then take out carrot and eggplant ,blend only dhal and potato.
3)heat oil, add all the spices and curry leaves,wait until you smell the aroma
4)Next add chilies paste and let it cook before add the blended dhal and potato
5) Add eggplant and carrot and cook it for about 8-10 minutes more.
*Done*

Serve it with roti canai and teh tarik~

Console Table Decoration


What a Monday Madness!
I recently managed to complete my console table decoration.
the theme is chocolate, lime green and turquoise blue in color and rustic beach inspiration ~
I made myself the yarn balls, very cheap and only cost me for RM 4.80 for 2 vases.
Then I bought a cheap frame RM 1.60 (i spray it white in color) and other frame cost RM 2.9 and RM 3.90 only . Yes! I only use cheap stuff decoration. For candle deco, I bought small pebbles from aquarium shop for RM 2.50/kg , the block candles I bought from IKEA, pack of 4 for RM 7.90 and tall candles I bought it from super mart ..price is RM 1.90 for the pack of 6 candles and then i finish it with cockles shells.

Ikan Kembung Masak Lemak Cili Api

I can't pick a suitable word to translate this cuisine name in English .It is actually a mackerel fish cook with bird eye's chili/thai chili, turmeric leaves,coconut milk. This dish is so simple and easy to prepare. Malay race in Malaysia, especially Minangkabau ethnic loves this dish so much. My hubby loves this dish too..

Ingredients:

A mackerel fish
A turmeric leaf
3 thai chilies(pound it)
half tea spoon turmeric powder
a pinch of salt
a teaspoon of tamarind (add a bit of water to make juice)
5 French beans(add more if you like)
1 cup of coconut milk
1 cup of water

Steps:
1) Add pounded Thai chilies, tamarind juice, coconut milk,water, and turmeric powder in pan add heat for about 4-5 minutes.
2) when the coconut's milk fairly cooked, add turmeric leaves and french bean,let the bean cook before add fish and salt
3) That's all ~

**serve this with rice**
